Ballots to the lot of them

Oh well, looks as though this election will be fought without my input. I had decided that this election would see my first ever time voting, but I received a letter last night informing me that I had registered too late, so in the meantime, they'd like to keep my details on record and send me carefully selected marketing promotions. Brilliant.

That sucks. Even if your candidate loses, voting is a surprisingly satisfying experience.

Still if there's a Hung Parliament there'll probably be another election along in a few months.

Voting is compulsory here. Lots of people say it's an infringement of human rights, but so is having to pass a test to get a driving licence. Elections are always on a Saturday, they're usually at the local school, the parents usually put on a money raising sausage sizzle, you see people you haven't seen for ages and then realise they are handing out how to vote cards for parties you hate, which is why you haven't seen them for ages. I love it all.

Yeah, I missed the voting registration deadline too - bollocks, and I'd just decided who to vote for as well.

annoying isn't it Gadjo!? I feel even more powerless than usual

zmkc - yes, I remember being in Oz during an election and all my mates having to vote! It seemed like a good idea, but I suppose it is an odd contadiction being forced by law to exercise one's democratic right to vote...
